How did you and your husband meet?
My husband and I met at a Making Time party in 2007 at Transit (which is long gone by now). We locked eyes on the dance floor and never looked back! He got me a free Colt 45 from the bar and let me drink from his flask. It was a true dance party romance.
Tell me about the proposal/ring!
Jesse proposed to me on his birthday in 2013 on a bridge overlooking the Seven Tubs waterfalls in Northeastern PA. I had no idea whatsoever - he tricked me into going on a short little nature walk when we were visiting his parents. Little to my knowledge, his brother was hiding at the bottom of the falls with a zoom lens camera to capture the surprise engagement! The best part is that we get to visit the waterfalls every time we're in the area :)
What was your bachelorette party like, did you stay local?
One of my good friends organized the most purrrfect bachelorette party! I'm a cat lady through-and-through, so of course it was "sex kitten" themed - which translated into drunkenly crafting black cat ear headbands with my friends, home-made kitty decorations all over her apartment, a slide show of hot guys with cats on the TV, temporary cat tattoos and of course yummy drinks. After that, we went out for Mexican food and margaritas and then ended up at The Dolphin for a dance party. It was lowkey, silly and super fun!
What was your wedding makeup inspiration?
I really just wanted to look like a fancy, glam version of myself. I remember when I checked out your website, you mentioned you specialized in "natural glam" which couldn't have been a more perfect description of what I was going for! I didn't have a strict idea of what I wanted going into the trial, but you really helped me figure out what it was. The custom lipstick color was my favorite part. I still wear it!
Where did you have the ceremony, and why?
We had the ceremony at our reception venue (The Stotesbury Mansion) - they have a stunning ballroom that doubles as a ceremony spot. It had so much charm and character on it's own that we didn't really need to decorate it at all! We also got to keep the party in one place which was super convenient.
Did you have a color theme or wedding style?
I didn't really have a true color scheme, but I found myself drawn to creams, golds, oranges and pinks (which surprised me since I'm not really a "pink" girl in my daily life. I wear a lot of black). I didn't set out to have a particular wedding style either - I just found a few main items I gravitated towards and built off of them. I also loved an excuse to wear the combination of pink sparkly boots with a black leather jacket, lace wedding dress and a flower crown!
Tell me a bit about the venue you chose and the party!
I fell in love with the Stotesbury Mansion from the start! It has a vintage, antique Philadelphia charm that I love, and I was able to add my own touch with the decor and floral arrangements. I wanted to keep my wedding local in Philadelphia, so the location couldn't of been more perfect. Even though it's right in Rittenhouse, hardly anyone knew about it! It was fun to surprise my guests too! As a bonus, it even has a smoking-allowed billiards room on the 3rd floor that a lot of my friends were really into.
What was the song you danced to for your first dance?
Wed had a couple of "first dance" moments before our first dance. For our first kiss, we forced the DJ to play the end of "Pour Some Sugar On Me" by Def Leppard - that was my husband's #1 wedding "must have". We entered our reception to T. Rex's "20th Century Boy" because it's one of my favorite party songs. Our actual first dance was "Sweet Thing" by Van Morrison.
Any special thanks to give?
